The Blooming Grove Fire
Department continuously recruits for diverse and qualified firefighter candidates. The firefighter recruitment and
selection process is extensive and generally takes 3-6 months from
initial application to hire.
The
Recruitment & Hiring Process generally consists of the
following:
1: Candidates complete and return all
application materials to the Blooming Grove Fire Department.
2:
A background check is performed on all applicants.
3:
Successful applicants will take part in a 3 person oral
interview panel comprised of current BGFD Firefighters. This
interview is designed to asses a candidate's motivation, values, and
attitudinal characteristics, as well as their verbal comprehension,
expression, and reasoning skills.
4:
Candidates must pass a Medical Examination and Physical Agility test.
The physical agility test will consist of a series of
events that simulate various firefighting activities.
5:
Selected Candidates progress to a final oral interview with the Fire
Chief. This is the final step in the recruitment process. Successful
candidates will be notified of the hiring decision within 30 days.
