BGFD Fire / EMS Application

If you are interested in becoming a Firefighter/Paramedic, then the Blooming Grove Fire Department  is offering an excellent opportunity for you. The BGFD is a dynamic Fire/EMS department that provides you the resources and  crucial skills necessary to stand out in a very competitive job environment.

A three (3) year Internship program earning:

National Registry Certified emergency Medical Paramedic - Associate Degree in Fire Protection Technician  Wisconsin Certified Firefighter I and Firefighter II - Three (3) years experience working as a Firefighter/Paramedic on a rotating shift schedule between two stations.

Interns are provided with:

Living quarters at the BGFD  - Paramedic training paid in full - $1000 per semester towards Associate Degree in Fire Science - Monthly stipend.

Internship requirements:

High School diploma with excellent grades - CPAT test (will be able to obtain from BGFD through CPAT test in house) - Medical evaluation and physical (provided through BGFD) - Compass Reading placement test - Oral board interview.

BGFD Firefighter Application

The Blooming Grove Fire Department continuously recruits for diverse and qualified firefighter candidates. The firefighter recruitment and selection process is extensive and generally takes 3-6 months from initial application to hire.

  The Recruitment & Hiring Process generally consists of the following:

  1:   Candidates complete and return all application materials to the Blooming Grove Fire Department.

  2:   A background check is performed on all applicants.

  3:   Successful applicants will take part in a 3 person oral interview panel comprised of current BGFD Firefighters. This interview is designed to asses a candidate's motivation, values, and attitudinal characteristics, as well as their verbal comprehension, expression, and reasoning skills.

  4:   Candidates must pass a Medical Examination and Physical Agility test. The physical agility test will consist of a series of   events that simulate various firefighting activities.

  5:   Selected Candidates progress to a final oral interview with the Fire Chief. This is the final step in the recruitment process. Successful candidates will be notified of the hiring decision within 30 days.
